The new restaurant Noyan Tun is unusual in every respect. The interior copies ancient Armenian architecture, with lots of columns and arches. Noyan Tun is the Armenian for Noah’s home. The legend says that Noah’s ark landed on the mountains of Ararat and Noah himself became the first winegrower. Here lies another specialty of the restaurant: aside from European and American wines they offer a wide selection of Armenian wines that is regularly supplemented. The head chef is from France. His favourite cooking subjects are seafood and duck. The best things to try are salad with smoked duck breast, fried chicken liver and raspberry vinegar, lobster mousse and carpaccio with vanilla butter, sterlet filet fried with chorizo and served with carrot casserole and cardamom sauce and spicy Thai-style soup from squids and crayfish.
